Luis Barragan is an influential architect to my thesis topic because he employed color in all of his designs. Barragan was influenced by mexican artists, used a color palette derived from mexican traditions, studied Josef Albers books, used light as an important element, and ultimately used colors to perceive different emotions within the users.

Artist Inspirtations
Josef Albers
Robert Slutsky
Rothko
Iiya Bolotosky
Chilhuly
These are the artist who have inspired me because they use color vibrations in their work to create different spatial effects. Now, how can we translate these Two Dimensional and Three Dimensional color vibrations into built form?
Final Site Documentation and Analysis
East Boston: Water Front
East Boston is being considered as a site because of its ideal location on the waterfront, access to southern exposure light, and a neutral background. A color palette from a rich diverse community could be used in the design. This site is larger in comparison to the other site being considered.
MacMillan Pier, Provincetown, MA
MacMillan Pier in Provincetown, MA is being considered as a site because of its ideal location, southern exposure to light, flow of people, and a rich and diverse color palette. This size is manageable in scale.
I am heavily debating between the two sites because they both have similarities in light quality, water location, and reflectivity. However the diversity and color palettes are very different between the two locations. If I were to choose East Boston I would consider putting the program on the water and not utilize the existing dock. If I choose Provincetown I would utilize the dock. What draws me to Provincetown as a site is that their is this colorful diversity that is only displayed in a superficial manner and could be instead utilized in creating spatial experiences.

Visual Abstract
In this iteration of my visual abstract I explored the use of paint to make space. Although the process was fun, the final product doesn't do my thesis ideas justice

Mind Map / Visual Map
Created using the software personal brain. Interesting way of constructing a mind map with the focus more on the words and how to connect them to ideas, rather than the design.
Updated Visual Map. I hope it speaks for its self.
The new abstract will come soon.
